On June 19th, my husband of 25 years, Jerry Thompson unexpectedly passed away at the young age of 55. My son, Bonner, and I are devastated, feeling lost, and are trying to pick up the pieces of our lives. For those who knew Jerry, he was the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back and was always there when you needed him. He had a beautiful smile that lit up the room, as well as a beautiful voice. His personality was “bigger than life”. Jerry was born in Baltimore and came to Hershey seeking a better life in 1993. I met him in 1999 when I went to a retirement party - he was the “third wheel” to a couple. Oddly enough, so was I! We met that night and talked all night - I knew he was “the one”. A year later, we had a beautiful baby boy and we never looked back. Jerry and I had purchased a house in only July of last year and were still in the process of getting settled. I have decided that I will not be able to remain in the new home alone, and I'm now struggling physically due to stress which affects my MS. It's overwhelming at times. Each day is becoming more challenging than the next and I feel it's best for me to live with a family member who can help me on a daily basis. Unfortunately, Jerry did not have a life insurance policy. We never thought he'd pass this young. Therefore, I'm asking for help to “bridge the gap” for the next several months so I can (again) pack up and move in with a family member. In addition to the expenses related to hiring help to pack/move, fuel to get personal items back to storage/donate to charity, and storage expenses, I have a few unforeseen bills/taxes that have come up and need help getting them paid so I don't lose the house. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. Your support will help alleviate some of the financial burdens and stress over the next few months so we can focus on grieving and figuring out what our “new normal” will be without Jerry.
