Donate to Patricia Urgently Needs Life-Saving Medical Treatment, organized by Randi Berkowitz

Patricia desperately needs, very specialized medical care in New York. She is suffering increasing cluster seizures and TIA strokes due to Ischemic Disease. I would not be asking for your help, if these very specialized diagnostic and treatment services could be provided locally. Her condition requires urgent attention, out-of-State!! We cannot do this on our own. The time it is taking to save funds for the life-saving medical care she needs, severely impacts her health more each day. Your support will make all the difference. Please act quickly - her life and health depends on it! My name is Randi, and I have been blessed to share my life with Patricia DiGiacomo, my extended family and best friend for 40 years. She is an extremely intelligent, kind, and compassionate woman. She is fiercely independent and a selfless person. She loves cooking and trained at the Cordon Bleu. She puts everyone before herself, always taking care of anyone in need of a helping hand or a hot meal. She rarely cooks now, and when she does, much to her distress. Lately, she has said, "I am a burden. My health is ruining your life". It is heartbreaking. On March 31, 2019, Patricia had a heart operation for Genetic Cardio-myopathy. Within days of surgery, we knew something was wrong. When she changed her doctors she was told, she had at least two TIA strokes and was having multiple seizures. Patricia was tested and diagnosed with Cerebral and Peripheral Ischemia, a debilitating disease that restricts the blood flow to her brain and limbs. This condition shortens life. She requires surgeries to open vessels in her brain and lower extremities. Our local hospitals do not perform these surgeries with the newer proven procedures. Had Patricia been immediately diagnosed and treated, she would not be in this declining condition today. Nor would she have the need for more advanced treatment in New York. Time is slipping away. It’s becoming more urgent Patricia gets the help she needs. We discovered NYU Langone Hospital in New York. They are greatly advanced in the field of Ischemic disease. They designed specialized medical equipment not available anywhere else. They have given Patricia hope, as they believe they can provide her with greatly improved health and live a normal life expectancy. Without NYU Langone's advanced expertise, there is no doubt, Patricia will continue to increasing suffer cluster seizures and TIA strokes, seriously cutting her life short. Patricia needs immediate help and support to turn her hope of a liveable future Into a reality. The challenge we face now is the added financial expenses of the medical costs, transportation and housing while she is treated. The medical expenses are partially, or not covered depending on the services she receives. Her primary insurance differs from State to State. Her secondary insurance does not cover medical costs out-of-State. This is creating a great hardship for Patricia. The expenses required to go out of State for Patricia's health includes: • Transportation by Amtrak round trip to New York, and during her stay for medical appointments, testing, etc. • At least, three weeks' stay in a budget-friendly hotel with an efficiency kitchen and groceries, instead of takeout and restaurants. • Medical expenses not covered by insurance; Out of pocket costs for: extensive diagnostic brain tests and cardiac testing includes: EEGs, MRIs, MRAs, Echocardiograms, CTscans. X-Rays, blood work, ultrasounds, EMG Nerve Conduction, etc.. • Co-pays for medical exams, tests, and treatments partially covered by insurance. • Medications that are not covered by insurance. This is a crucial opportunity for Patricia to receive life-saving care, but only with your help, and donation will she have a real future. To date, we have had no choice, but to reschedule appointments, delaying medical care by months because we cannot do this alone. With the necessary funds and your generous support, Patricia be able to access the care she desperately needs to regain her health, and live a full life. From the bottom of my heart, and with extreme gratitude, Thank you for giving Patricia, the gift of life! Randi Read more

Why GoFundMe Articles and URLs Appear on Our Website and How We Support Other GoFundMe Campaigns

At LFEBridge Foundation, we are dedicated to creating a platform where individuals and organizations can maximize their fundraising efforts. As part of our commitment to supporting a wide range of causes, we incorporate articles and URLs from GoFundMe into our website.
