Donate to Jayden’s Heart Journey, organized by Giovanna Rojas

Update 10/08/2024 Baby Jayden recently underwent a 9-hour surgery. He now has three chest tubes in place to help drain the fluid that built up in his chest, lungs, and abdomen during the operation. The surgeons were able to repair his leaking tricuspid valve, the small mitral valve, and the pulmonary valve. They also closed the left and right ventricles with a patch to relieve the obstruction from the right side of his heart to his lungs. However, due to high pressure in both the right side of his heart and his lungs, the surgeons had to reopen part of the patch. Jayden will remain open for about a week, and the doctors hope to close him up by Monday or Tuesday, depending on his progress. After closing him up, they plan to remove the breathing machine within 7 to 10 days. If anything goes wrong, the heart-lung machine is on standby. Jayden has received multiple blood transfusions, and the medical team is monitoring him closely while he remains open. He is expected to stay in the ICU for 3 to 6 weeks. During this incredibly challenging time, Chema is unable to work as she remains by Jayden's side, focusing on his recovery. The medical bills, along with everyday expenses, are accumulating, and any support during this period would mean the world to her. Your help will allow Chema to stay with Jayden in the ICU and cover their essential needs as they navigate this long road to recovery. Every donation, no matter how small, is deeply appreciated and will make a significant difference in helping this family focus on what matters most—Jayden’s healing. Thank you all for your kind words, calls, texts, and prayers. There is a long road ahead, and Chema and Jayden will need all the help and prayers they can get. English: Friends and family of our dear Chema, at this time, both she and her baby Jayden Daniel need all the help and support possible. That is why this page was created to communicate the delicate situation that Chema and her baby are going through, and to encourage everyone to contribute. On May 15, 2024, Jayden Daniel came into the world through an emergency C-section, filling all his loved ones with excitement and hope. However, despite everything going smoothly during the pregnancy, Jayden was unfortunately born with a severe heart condition, which was diagnosed after several tests and examinations. Just one day after his birth, Jayden had to be urgently transferred to another specialized hospital, where they found problems with his aortic valve. The doctors explained that this condition is quite rare, affecting about 5 out of every 1,000 children. Jayden remained under observation until May 20 and was then discharged with an oxygen monitor. On June 4, he had a follow-up appointment with the cardiologist. Unfortunately, the cardiologist found that Jayden was not oxygenating well and was not gaining weight, which led to him being readmitted to the hospital. Jayden Daniel’s diagnosis is known as Tetralogy of Fallot, a congenital condition where a hole in one of the main veins, the aorta, causes heart failure, issues with oxygenation, a bluish tint to the skin, difficulty gaining weight, feeding problems, and more. Jayden has already undergone a catheterization procedure, but he will need open-heart surgery in the coming months. This is why we are reaching out to all of you. Chema has unfortunately had to put her work on hold to dedicate herself fully to her baby’s health. Any amount donated will be a great blessing and help in this delicate situation. You may also donate directly. Thank you and God bless you. Read more
