Donate to Help Our Family Survive Winter in Gaza!, organized by Diana Abuelouf

Hello, everyone. My name is Diana Abuelouf and this is a campaign to raise money for members of our family living in the Gaza Strip. This is an effort to help all my relatives and their neighbors, as everyone is struggling there. My dear family have lost everything from homes, neighborhoods, and many loved ones. Their children are starving and in need of anything and everything. Your donations mean the difference between life and death for them. Please take this with an open heart as you imagine their lives now. It has been over 13 months that my aunts, uncles, cousins and their children have lived this nightmare in Gaza during this unrelenting war. The main focus today is that it is the middle of November and it's pretty chilly even indoors with heaters accessible. As I think about this, I can't help but think of my family living in tents for months on end. The upcoming winter is going to be very hard and I wanted to maybe help out in any way. The concern is that they have sturdy shelter to keep out the rain and the cold weather somehow. The main thing that is needed is new supplies to build better tents. This means new cloth, nylon, or whatever other resources they have that are highly priced from that to wood, rope, and everything and anything else. Everything is costly as there is a blockade there with little or no humanitarian aid coming into the strip. This is the aftermath of a rainy couple of nights over this past weekend. This is a simple list of items they need to survive the cold and rain coming this winter. Your contributions would mean the world to them in these inhumane conditions they have been subjected to for over a year now. A $10 donation can get a pair of shoes, or a $25 can get them a warm outfit, a $50 donation can get all of the above for someone in need. A $100 donations can buy a family a meal or can make sure a large tarp is utilized for better shelter against the rain and cold. As far as tent materials, they don’t come at a cheap price. $300 to a couple thousand and that depends on the size needed. Conditions they have been living in makes firewood, plastic and any wood a necessity for cooking and heating. A simple lighter can be a difference between a cooked meal or staying somewhat warm by building a fire. Please help my family by your donations or ideas or stories. I need for them to know someone out here does think and hope for the best for them. That they are not forgotten. Keep HOPE alive for them as they face the unimaginable. Thank you for taking the time to read this and please know your contributions no matter what or how will definitely directly impact my family. Simple tips on tent life, or a single message would mean everything to them as they struggle to stay alive. This is one of my cousin’s tent. The inside. Her son’s tent made out of flour and rice bags sown together. The inside sown with whatever fabric they could find. This is where some of my family is taking shelter. The kids' future is looking hopeless right now as our family struggles with everything imaginable. They literally have nothing to look forward to, however, they fight for their lives and their children's lives. Destruction is everywhere they look. Playgrounds are gone, toys also, schools don't exist anymore, food is scarce and genocide is happening all around. I want to help my family stay alive with dignity. They deserve to live an dtheir children also should have something to look forward to. My family and kids are no different from anyone else in the world. You can instill hope instead of death and destruction as they struggle to hold on to some memory of a childhood. Mothers lose their children minute by minute in their reality, and that is the worst pain of all. Your donations of $5, $10, $25, $50 will make all the difference in my family being able to provide their children neccessities like food, water, a chance at proper medical care outside of Gaza, and obtain clothes and shelter as they have faced this harsh reality for over a year now! Help us give them hope that there is a future that includes them and their kids. What once used to be a school for kids is now a place of shelter for many families. Moreover, my cousin Mona's son suffered a missile attack and his leg is in shambles. Let's get him outside of Gaza for proper treatment. Supporting them in any way possible is our priority and the cost for Mona's family to evacuate to Egypt is an attainable goal.    A person having to be taken to a hospital (top) Scenes of massive destruction in the streets of Jabalya. We are starting this campaign in hopes of giving my family hope that people do care and they are not alone. We want to brighten their spirits and believe that there can be a future that includes them.  Please help us to evacuate the severely injured ones in our family and support them and the ones left behind. .     Bags of powdered food (above) are what was thrown out of planes as aid. However, my family was grateful for every bit of it. For my uncles, aunts, cousins, their children and many loved ones, it is still very hard to come to grips that the world isolated and abandoned them in a time of need. My family lives everyday in constant fear. Their homes are rubble. They r literally running for their lives trying to find anywhere safe. They have no way out other than the Egypt border that is quite expensive to save their lives. My poor family is trapped and have nothing left after almost nine months of sleeping in the streets, having no electricity, no bathrooms, no showers, no clean water and they are starving. However, they are always grateful and so are we. I have always felt lucky and proud to have them as family and now we are closer than ever! They are such kindhearted people and I love them greatly. Life now… fire has replaced stoves and microwaves. Living in harsh conditions and can still smile! I LOVE them.    The remains of what used to be “home” It is an exhausting life for them and their children . It’s an overwhelming fear they pray about with broken hearts. I can imagine and know what they are going thru as we have lost communication with them so many times. They have sporadically left text messages when possible. We just want to hear their voices again. It is a horrible situation for every person there from adults to children.  Imagine what it would be like to lose everything and not have basic needs to stay alive. We have an opportunity here that we don’t want to be wasted. My family has NO opportunities in Gaza. We will NEVER GIVE UP on them and taking all opportunities available to make sure they survive and have a Chance for the children’s future. Nothing is impossible. There are plenty of ways we can use here in America to help everyone alive and pray for the lost ones. If you have any suggestions or ideas, please share with us.  We still have HOPE and believe that we can overcome the past that was handled with carelessness all around. As long as we have faith in a just God and have plans for a future ,there is never “Impossible.” The children of Gaza still have hopes and dreams we can help them get a chance at fulfilling. I used to live in the Gaza Strip in Jabalya as a child. I have insight on a Palestinian child’s point of view to be exact. And I can tell you this: No one will ever extinguish our will to be. My family are deserving of peace and will always have hope and desire for it. They only hope and hope for an end to this suffering.  I was 10 years old when my grandmother took me on a trip to Jerusalem. Just the two of us. It was beautiful. The one very distinct thought I remember having as I looked all around: “This is what peace can be like for everyone.” People of all 3 religions were present shoulder to shoulder with each other, in peace. Strange thought for a child to have? I don’t think so, considering having to make the trip back to Jabalya and be content.   Palestinians still will never lose faith in God and the struggle they must endure. Simply, they put everything in God’s hands as this is His will and plan. As we all witness this struggle, an innocent child in Palestine is subjected to a life that an adult outside of Gaza would NEVER even imagine as a possibility for themself. We thank God everyday for another day they are alive. Imagine being unable to breath as you start to panic. The choking sensation indicates that something is not right in your world. The dust and the smell reach you first as you slowly come to a realization that no one else is around. It is what the general feeling is when an airstrike made a missile’s target be your home. Targeting your family for an unknown reason. Your head starts to clear a bit and you are pulled out from under the destruction and rubble of what was your home only moments before. You scream and scream and scream as you know that HOME is made of family. The wails come next as you struggle to adjust to the fact that HOME is no more. The rubble of what used to be home is what has fallen on top of your family, who is buried under the destruction. Your wails are definitely heard by God as He knows this struggle. The urgency to pull your small children from under the rubble is immediately followed by the emptiness you are left with in a split second. If only freedom existed for Palestinians, then maybe that father would have had a choice to get his kids to safety.  Instead, you imagine him wailing for what he has lost so quickly as his eyes fixate on the lifeless, small hand under the rubble and everything spins around as memories flood in. The overwhelming moment of realization that what was will never be again. I am appealing to everyone to please put yourself in their shoes or even my shoes. What would you do if it was your family? We do anything within our power for our family. What if this destruction and fear and worry were to happen here? Can you imagine? Please help my family in this effort to make a safe place exist for them and their children. Please consider donating or simply sharing this campaign and let humanity exist for my family and rekindle hope in their hearts. All is possible because we don’t know the meaning of “impossible.”  Thank you for giving me the chance at this opportunity that my family doesn’t have. We are their voices and our contribution gives them hope for a future, any future for them and their children begins with safety first.  Our goal is to collect funds to help support all of our family in one way or another after they suffered for more than 8 months in this horror show. They are trying to live and love life for everyone. How the funds will be used: ***UPDATE***UPDATE***: As the ultimate goal is to make sure my family is okay one day at a time, I will approach this differently. Although I'd like for them to evacuate, the border is closed currently and I should be focusing on immediate relief. Therefore, my goal will be changing as immediate needs are received thru text. The single most important thing now is to make sure they have something to eat, as humanitarian aid has been blocked for months now. There are times when vegetables (however fresh they might be) and other kinds of food are put together when possible for people to buy. However, the food is literally 50X the cost of what it was before the war. Therefore, what we have so far will go towards that and towards the purchase of rare solar panels there. Please continue to donate and share as you would be helping my family directly right now. Im lowering the goal to $2500 which will take care of food for 1 week and the need to have electricity in these days of scorching heat. Having some means to electricity is a crucial need, just as important as food and water as alternative ways are used to stay from dehydration and heat strokes, especially for the elderly and children. Thank you everyone for showing support as I need it. Please contact me if any ideas you have to reach this goal come to mind. I really need your help so please continue to share. The goal of evacuating is still needed but we will take this day by day and change the goals as the needs are met for that particular goal. The cost to evacuate Gaza is $5000 per person and that is the lowest in 8 months. Ultimate goal: Evacuate Khalid for treatment and the rest of my cousin Mona’s family (5)…… $30000 Evacuate Ashraf’s family (5)…. $25000 Evacuate Mohammed’s family (6)...$30000 Ashraf, Mona and Mohammed are siblings with their own families. Their parents also will try at evacuating. They are elderly and will probably put the children’s lives first.  Funds for living expenses when they make it into Egypt: $2000 for each of the 3 families   Funds to support everyone and the rest of our family that will stay behind: $20000 The rest will go towards fees and expenses. No donation is too small. My family have nothing. Your contribution could help them have a meal or a hotel room for the first time ever, since most have never left Gaza. It can provide esim cards they can use to stay in touch with the outside world. They also need clothes, shoes and bare necessities like hygiene and books they can use to keep their children educated. No schools exist anymore as they are used for unsafe shelter. Mostly, your donations will give them hope again. You make a difference to them between life and death. Nine months is a long time for anyone to live as they do and in the hardest conditions that to most are not possible. I knew it is a serious situation from day 1. However, as I’m creating this fundraiser, my cousin Mona is crying in fear for her son, Khalid. He was struck by missile and was seriously injured 2 weeks ago. His surgery did not go well as his leg is becoming infected down to the bone. And there are no other choices except to get him outside of Gaza for proper treatment. This is the priority now.  I can only imagine what Mona went thru on the day her son almost died. She is telling me that she’s so scared. Mona said يارب ياااارب شفنا الموت بعيوننا  Translated: Oh God, Oh God, we saw death with our own eyes.  Please help us in saving them from death as they now are the walking dead waiting to die. Is today going to be the last day? That’s what’s going on in their head. Thank you to everyone for giving us the chance to instill hope for my family once again.    Read more
