Donate to Fundraiser zum 30. Geburtstag für die MECFS Forschung, organized by Carmen Rinnhofer

Hey, ich bin Carmen und seit einer Infektion mit dem Coronavirus an der schwersten Form von Long Covid erkrankt – ich habe ME/CFS*, eine kaum erforschte Krankheit, für die derzeit keine zugelassene Behandlung verfügbar ist. Mit diesem Aufruf möchte ich anlässlich meines 30. Geburtstags Spenden für die Forschung sammeln. Mein Leben mit ME/CFS ME/CFS hat mein Leben grundlegend verändert. Ich liege seit 2,5 Jahren – isoliert von sämtlichen Sinnesreizen – in einem dunklen Zimmer. Neben Licht und Geräuschen führen bereits gewöhnliche Aktivitäten wie Lesen, Zuhören oder Gehen zu langwieriger Überlastung. Mein Bewegungsradius ist auf wenige Schritte pro Tag beschränkt. Kurze Gespräche zu führen oder Besuch zu empfangen, ist zu anstrengend. Meine Freund:innen habe ich seit der Diagnose nicht mehr gesehen. Die WE&ME Foundation Doch es gibt eine Privatinitiative in Österreich, die mit dem Ziel gegründet wurde, das Leben von ME/CFS-Betroffenen nachhaltig zu verbessern: die WE&ME Foundation der Familie Ströck. Die Stiftung engagiert sich für Anerkennung sowie gezielte Bewusstseinsbildung und finanziert notwendige Forschungsarbeiten, um die seit Jahrzehnten bestehenden Wissenslücken zu schließen. Mein 30. Geburtstag Um diese Defizite aufzuholen und die Forschung voranzutreiben, wird dringend Unterstützung benötigt. Deshalb möchte ich meinen 30. Geburtstag am 25. Jänner 2025 zum Anlass nehmen, um Spenden für die WE&ME Foundation zu sammeln. Der gesamte Spendenbetrag wird Forschungsprojekten zur Lösung von ME/CFS zugutekommen und zur Entwicklung zukünftiger Behandlungsmethoden beitragen. Ich freue mich ungemein über jeden einzelnen Beitrag sowie das Teilen des Spendenaufrufes und bedanke mich von ganzem Herzen für eure Unterstützung. „Together we will cure ME/CFS.“ – WE&ME Foundation *Allgemeine Informationen zu ME/CFS ME/CFS ist eine schwere, chronische Multisystemerkrankung, die meist infolge viraler Infektionskrankheiten auftritt und häufig zu einem hohen Grad an körperlicher Behinderung führt. 1/4 der Betroffenen kann das Haus nicht mehr verlassen und ist pflegebedürftig. 60% sind arbeitsunfähig. Das Kardinalsymptom der Erkrankung ist die Post Exertional Malaise (PEM), eine nach Überreizung sowie Belastung aller Art einsetzende, starke Zustandsverschlechterung. Seit 1969 offiziell von der WHO klassifiziert, zählt ME/CFS zu den Krankheiten mit der geringsten Lebensqualität. Dennoch ist die Erkrankung aufgrund jahrzehntelanger Bagatellisierung, Vernachlässigung und Psychosomatisierung kaum erforscht. Bis heute gibt es keine zugelassenen Therapiemöglichkeiten. Stattdessen werden Patient:innen weiterhin fehltherapiert, falsch diagnostiziert, reduziert und von seriöser medizinischer Behandlung sowie Anerkennung und sozialer Absicherung exkludiert. Die Abwesenheit von Hilfe, Perspektive und Verständnis sowie medizinisches und behördliches Gaslighting, existenzielle Not und v.a. die enorme Symptomlast verantworten zudem ein erhöhtes Suizidrisiko bei ME/CFS – eine Tatsache, die mit den steigenden Long Covid Fallzahlen sichtbarer wurde.
