Hello, my name is Alex, I'm in desperate need of your help. I have Stage 4 Endometriosis and my last 2 surgeons were unable to remove it all, so I need a special one. I don't step out of my comfort zone often to ask such things and I also don't tell my story like I'm about too. I'm hoping for understanding of why I'm here today.
This journey started for me when I was 18, but in 2013-2016 is when I knew something was terribly wrong. After having my son my body turned against me, is what it felt like. I weighed well over 200lbs and with in 54 days I was down to 134lbs, why you ask? Everything from my last rib down to my knees hurt like I had been hit by a semi truck. It hurt to do anything, even eating. When my period came around I wasn't even able to walk to the bathroom, I would crawl or be carried. I lived like that till 2019.. up to that point I had seen numerous doctors, meds, imaging, tests, sooooooo many ER visits and nothing. Was told I was crazy, weak and a drug seeker. I finally got cut open in 2019 and was diagnosed with Deep Inflitrated Endometriosis (DIE) and Frozen Pelvis, which also classified it as Stage 4. My whole reproductive system was embedded into my pelvic wall, you couldn't even see my right ovary because it was so glued to me. They also found DIE on my bowel but this surgereon said I will be fine. I was no wear near fine after the surgery. I had a full Hysterectomy with Oophorectomy during the surgery, which now today I found out I didn't need. I have been menopausal since the age of 29 and am now 34, which has been its own journey in itself. (Menopause is no joke ladies.) After that surgery I still wasn't doing well, at this point I still wasn't eating or using the restroom even slightly normal. I then was diagnosed with Gastorparesis, due to inflammation damage caused by DIE, also diagnosed with Interstitial cystitis, caused by DIE. My symptoms never really went away after that surgery, and I definitely have learned the fine art of just dealing with it. In 2021 I had to crawl into a suregeons office in front of everyone to then be schedule for my 2nd endo surgery in 2021. There I was cut open just to find my pelvic region just covered in it again. This doctor didn't even look at my bowel which breaks my heart because that's where he needed to start so the endo could be fully removed. This surgeon also stated he was not comfortable with the bowel and that I would just need to find something that helps because he said he won't cut me again, he is the closest "endo" surgeon I got. At this point I've taken so many meds, it's technically my 4th surgery all together, as I had other surgeries to "fix" what Endometriosis has damaged, but nothing is working because as long as there is Endometriosis in my body I will continue to suffer. So here we are another 3 years later and these are the newest illnesses we have added due to Endometriosis; DVT, chronic pancreatitis, cysts forming on my Kidneys and IPMN on my pancreas. I still can't go to the bathroom like a normal human. I can't do anything besides work and sleep and even that is a chore. I don't hardly eat cause I'm too scared it will send me into a flare up. My kiddos have missed out on so much cause 8/10 times I'm too swollen and sick to move.
I have a surgeon I have taken 2 years to find and is wanting to help me. He knows that I won't be pain free of this disease until it is ALL cut out and he is more than happy to do it. Doctor Kongoasa of Atlanta heard me and understands. He will be preforming what I'm hoping will be my last endo surgery, in June. I will be under the knife for at least 3 hours maybe more as he will be pulling out my organs and looking at every inch of my inside to make sure nothing is left. I will be missing work for this and because he is the specialist he is, he takes NO insurance so I will be paying out of pocket. I live all the way in Montana, I have to fly and stay there for almost 2 weeks. I'm in desperate need of financial help with this. I'm a single mother of 2 amazing kiddos and have been doing this pretty much alone. Even if you can spare just a dollar would be amazing.. if you can't spare a dollar sharing it helps just as much. Dr. Kongoasa has one of the best success rates, so much so that it will more than likely be my last one. I thank you for taking the time to read this. I tried not to get to gross and make it quick, but I could talk for days with what I have been through and still go through. I just want this surgery and to put all this behind me and live the rest of my life showing my kiddos how cool I really am. They think I'm pretty cool already, but could you imagine a not sick mom?
