Donate to Emergency Back Surgery Financial struggle, organized by Whitney Haywood

My name is Whitney Haywood and I live on the outer banks of North Carolina born and raised. I found out in march that I had to have emergency back surgery. I Went to doctor he compared my 2022 MRIs and x-rays to the ones that I did January of this year and the difference was very severe key why I have been in so much pain. All of my nerves were completely pinched off and also severe slippage of all of my lumbar dics. I had a surgery date planned of march 15. I go there that day to VA to have it and they told me it was canceled due to my health insurance. My health insurance did not contact me. Also, my doctor did not tell me as well. I had been seeing this neurologist since 2022 . I had no idea that there would be a problem . Still makes no sense. Then I spent the next couple weeks on the phone trying to find a doctor that my insurance would accept found one group in Virginia. After the stress of trying to get appointments and moving as fast as I could to do, all the hurdles . I finally found a doctor that squeezed me in as fast as he could after. I had already been mistreated by another lady doctor that was very ugly to me even after everything I had been through that past two weeks . He also said I needed to have emergency back surgery because it was so severe and I could have permanent nerve damage . Having to find another doctor and have things moved quickly was very hard and stressful especially where I live because it is considered an island. And a lot of people don’t understand that like when you call insurance companies and you call this person in that person they don’t understand the local issue that we have to go out of the State. Which means most Outer Banks locals, including our kids have to go to Virginia for a lot of things especially doctors. The doctors Took me out of work March 11 because of the severity of my condition and so I would not mess my back up more . I finally had surgery with the new doctor April 11. So a 3 hour surgery ended up being over 7 hours long , once he got in there It was a lot more severe and worse than any of the MRIs and x-rays had shown. He said it was a mess in there and there was no way I could have waited any longer because permanent nerve damage would have happened. Iam still unable to work if I don’t work then I don’t have money to pay any of my bills. I am a single mom struggling to stay afloat. Pay check to pay check like most people. I do not go back to the doctor until May 22 to find out how my progress has gone and to make sure everything is okay and healing the right way and to see if and when I may return to work . Which scares me because I need to work to have money . Also, in the midst of having to get MRIs and x-rays, they also found 2 masses on my ovaries, but I can’t do anything about that until I get my back better which that also could be more medical Girl problems. So I hope and pray when I go back to the gynecologist that these things have not grown because if they have then that’s a problem. This is also putting a lot of stress on me because I have no idea if my ovaries will be OK . I don’t have any money because my plan has been pushed back a whole month, so what I had to use is now used up for the March and April I was already planning to be headed back to work by the middle/ end of May so all because insurance did me wrong it has messed up my timeline severely which means I could get evicted because I can’t pay my rent. I could lose my car because I can’t make the payment and I’m gonna be drowning in late fees with all of my other bills and or get cut off and then, of course you have lovely medical bills / prescriptions. And also things that I need to have for my recover. Any help would be very much appreciated. As us locals know Living on the Outer Banks is difficult. Also, my mom, Penny Haywood has cash app and Venmo. Because I am not on social media, she is. Anything would be a blessing and helpful. Read more
