I write to you today with a heart heavy with anguish and desperation. My three beautiful nieces and nephews—ages 2, 5, and 7—are in urgent need of help. Since June 26th, they have been moved between seven different foster homes, facing instability that no child should ever have to endure.
Imagine being a child, feeling lost and alone, unsure if you will ever feel safe again. These little ones are not just names; they are vibrant souls filled with dreams and fears. Each time they are uprooted from a place they begin to call home, they lose a piece of their childhood innocence. They long for love, belonging, and stability—things that I desperately want to give them.
As their aunt, I have watched their spirits dim with every relocation. The laughter that once filled our family gatherings has been replaced by silence and uncertainty. They deserve a nurturing environment where they can thrive, and I am determined to bring them home. However, I cannot do this alone.
I have just returned to work after undergoing surgery on my legs, and funds are tight and limited. The financial burden of legal fees and creating a supportive home for them weighs heavily on me. These children are remarkable individuals with so much potential. The oldest, a bright 7-year-old, loves reading and dreams of becoming a teacher. They are not just victims of circumstance; they are beautiful souls who deserve a chance to shine.
The thought of them remaining in foster care, moving from one unfamiliar place to another, breaks my heart. Each transition strips away their sense of security and belonging. I worry about the emotional scars this experience will leave on them, and I cannot bear the idea of them growing up without the love and support of family.

Miracle Moutry is an incredibly strong, motivated, fierce, and beautiful God-loving Mama. I met her when I was referred to tutor one of her children in academics. She always arrived punctually, often with two and sometimes three of her young children in tow. I admired her immediately; her patience seemed endless, and she’d never slow down. During tutoring sessions, she would handle her kids' various needs effortlessly, observe and apply tutoring techniques at home with her child that I tutored (tutors and teachers, we all know what gems these parents are), and also was able to apply to be a postal carrier during this “down time” to help provide even more for her family.
Many of you know that being a postal carrier is not an easy job, and there’s certainly no rest for the weary. Yet, true to form, Miracle knew that she could do it and jumped through many hoops to get there for her family. My fiancé and I formed a bond with her that exceeded a parent/teacher relationship: I talked with her often after tutoring sessions, and my fiancé talked with her about her new career with the USPS, as he joined the post office a number of years prior. We had dinner together, hung out in the backyard, and watched my fiancé and her boys play frisbee in the back alley. All of her children are wonderful souls that have brightened our lives, and I think of them often. It’s obvious that Miracle is an exceptional parent.
Recently, Miracle again, brave as always, told me about a family member of hers that was going to have their four children removed from their home. She immediately sprung to action, wanting to find a way to take in the children and shield them from going into foster care. She knew she would need to relocate into a larger home in order to house all eight children (her four children plus the other family member’s four), and immediately set out to converse with social workers, city resources, and other family members to find a way to keep them all together.
Despite her tireless efforts, Miracle has not been able to secure sufficient housing to raise eight children as of this time. As many of us know, the wheels of the city government turn slowly, and recently the housing authority has come under scrutiny. Miracle is doing her due diligence to get a foster license, but in the meantime, sadly, her extended family’s children have been put into foster care.
Thankfully, we can do something to help make this situation right. Please consider donating today to help Miracle secure sufficient housing to bring the four children home. If we pull together as a community, we can keep this family together.
