Hello! My name is Trinity Kaeding, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to participate in a study abroad program in Senegal as part of my university’s Sahelian Studies course. I’m reaching out to ask for your support in helping me cover the expenses for this unique educational journey, where I’ll be earning credits in Global Literature, Cultural Studies, and Travel Writing. This program isn’t just about classroom learning—it's about immersion and firsthand experiences that bring West African history, culture, and literature to life. During our time in Senegal, we’ll be engaging deeply with local culture and history. This includes a historical tour of Dakar, a visit to the Maison des Esclaves on Goree Island, and discussions with religious leaders and scholars. We will also be studying West African literature, learning about the Sufi orders, and exploring the cultural heritage through performances by local griots. Additionally, we’ll travel to Saint Louis, visit the Djoudj National Bird Sanctuary, and meet with local communities to gain a broader understanding of Senegalese life and traditions. This trip represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to broaden my perspective, enhance my studies, and bring back knowledge that will enrich my future academic and professional pursuits.
