Hola, it’s me, Cam. As some of you may know, but most don’t, I have had a lot going on over the past 5 years. Some things more out in the open than others. Today I write to you all not to only ask for help, but to open up about it all.
In 2018, my employer at the time was shut down by the FTC. I was left jobless and with a large family to still provide for. 6 months later the Government included me in the complaint as I was the compliance officer. This dragged on for two years. During those two years, a lot happened. Covid hit, my wife of 16 years left, I still had three children to care for and I was suffering severe mental health issues. With the help of a few very dear close friends and my closest family members, I was able to pull up through and even met someone special.
A year later, after the FTC case was finalized, I received notice I was being indicted along side the owner and VP of Sales in the Southern District of Illinois in connection with the FTC shutting down my former employer. This lead to such tremendous anxiety, stress and uncertainty of what will happen to not only me, but my children and family. It was during this time period I was realizing life will never be the same again. Here I am again, self reflecting and taking a hard look at my past choices and truly having to take ownership of my actions (or lack of). And man, this is a lot harder to do than you realize! Looking back, all the should have’s, the could have’s, I meant to, they did me no good. Covering up someone else’s lies only create your own lies by doing so. Turning the blind eye is still seeing. Not reporting the problem makes you a part of the problem. This is a tremendous lesson to learn and one I continue to talk to my children about so they do not make the same mistake and even apply it into their daily life.
Within the past five years, I have lost my job, my home, myself, FTC, moved across the state, got divorced, indicted in IL, got married, have had SEVERAL medical issues and went to trial to testify against my former employer. As of today, my case is over after cooperating and testifying for the federal government. I am awaiting sentencing within the next 30 days.
As you can imagine, my wife and children and family are devistated. My youngest is only in 6th grade. I want to see my stepdaughter (who is my soul child) graduate high school. I want to cheer my youngest son on as he walks across that stage getting his high school diploma and his associates degree at the same time. See my oldest son get married and be there to see my grand babies being born. I’m still a newlywed and want to give my wife a better life than what she’s had to endure. My dad is ill, my middle son is in the Army, what if something happens to either of them? My consequences to my actions are tremendous. It not only affects me, but everyone else in my life. I will forever carry the guilt and try and make it up to them.
Right now, I am asking for help. We have found an amazing consulting firm Pink Lady Prison Consultants who work exclusively with women like myself who are headed to prison. This is direct from them:
“Pink Lady Federal Prison Consultants is the only Prison Consulting firm catering exclusively to females entering Federal Custody with services geared to help female inmates adjust to the murky world of the federal prison system.
Our consultants led by former Federal Inmates Holli Coulman and Larry Levine, have been helping Female inmates and defendants for over a decade qualify for federal inmate early release programs and other prison related guidance so they can return to their families as quickly and safely as possible.
With an understanding of Federal Bureau of Prisons operations and the Federal Court plea and trial process. They coach women charged by the (DOJ) Department of Justice with federal crimes by providing guidance on Plea Agreements, going to trial, as well as placement in a desirable federal facility and prep them for life in Federal Prison, along with helping them qualify for Early Release”.
Their cost is $6,000 total. With only my wife’s income after my sentencing, we are in need of help raising this retainer. Please try and find it in your hearts to look past my mistakes and see the true person I am. I need to be home for my children. I need to be able to continue all my medical treatments. My family needs me and I need them. My time can be best served home where I can provide community service to payback for my crime. Any bit helps, and from myself, my wife and all our children, we thank you.
