Hello, my name is Maria and I am raising funds for my kids. My husband, Celestino, and I have been married for 10 years and we have 2 children from his first marriage, Isabella (15) and Elizabeth (14), and one child, Maria Celeste (2), together. For the majority of our marriage, both of my older kids have been in the full custody of their mother. But this year we became aware of child abuse in the home and CPS has arrested their mother and placed both of our kids in our care. My kids now live with us and we have registered them in the local school (about 60 miles from where they used to live with their mother). We have had to put our kids in crisis counseling due to some mental health situations that they were going through due to the abuse they suffered. Around the same time, we were given a diagnosis for Maria Celeste for autism. As parents, we have been trying to support our kids the most we can in ensuring that their mental health and physical health are taken care of. Both of my older kids are very talented in either tennis or band.
We have had several new and unexpected costs including court fees for custody (still ongoing) , medical fees (most covered by insurance but some specialized testing are only partially covered) and now we have some school fees that if we had known sooner we would have had time to budget. Since school just started and we registered late, we have missed out on some opportunities in their new school to pay things associated with sports and band through payment plans that were made available with earlier/normal registration times.
We are currently in need to pay for some fees related to band and tennis as soon as possible. The school is working with us to help but unfortunately in order for them to participate we need to pay the majority very soon. These activities are important to the mental health of our children and has been bringing them joy and excitement that we have not seen in a while. Please consider donating any amount you can.
