Hi I am Sister Zita Iwuoha, I am originally from Uboma, Nigeria and currently live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I started this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friend, Mark Owens. Mark serves on the board of my non-profit organization and has given tirelessly to others. I met Mark through his wife, Dr. Angela Owens, who mentored me through my doctoral program several years ago. He is currently in the area of Western North Carolina that has been devastated by hurricane Helene. He and his wife own a cabin there. Here is his story: My name is Mark Owens and my family lives in the North Carolina mountains where Hurricane Helene has been especially devastating. We still have not heard from many of our friends and neighbors. Roads are out, bridges are gone, comms are down. No power and nobody coming in or going out. Entire communities have been wiped out from the flooding and mudslides. I am there now on the ground working to get these communities what they need. They need help badly: food, water, fuel, medicine, power tools, and everything else. I will be in charge of withdrawing these funds. Every penny donated will fund these supplies directly, which we will use to repair structures, care for individuals, and rebuild this community to the best of our ability.
