Aloha my name is Helen and my fundraiser is for my private cat sanctuary "One Cat Short of Crazy Sanctuary”, here on the island of Maui.
I have been taking care of, feeding and healing these homeless cats for the last 22 years all on my own...
but I now need you “special heart centered beings” and community to help me continue taking care of these cats.
Taking care of nature is our responsibility as we are able to do something plus helping homeless animals opens ones heart to deeper compassion and love.
I spend about $1500 plus a month for food and $2400 for rent for the sanctuary.... not including vet fees or extra supplies. I also need a newer car.
Dry food (Costco and Petco) $650
Wet food $550
Chicken stock $50
Cat litter (Pine pellets) $65
Gas for car $160
Below is about a weeks supply of food
Food from Costco and Petco
Since the Lahaina Fires, it has become financially very challenging to continue … more cats are showing up and cat food is getting more expensive plus there are always unexpected vet emergencies.
I also welcome gift cards from Petco, Costco and Amazon where I buy most of my cat food and the cards can be sent to
PO Box 184, Kihei, HI. 96763 USA
or you can order from Amazon the following and send to my PO Box.
The Cat Food listed below I buy from Costco.. it's the Costco at Kahului 96732 ..I also buy chicken stock to mix with the dry and wet as some cats are old. And they need moisture with the dry food...I have to limit the wet as I have so many cats to feed.
or Cash direct to my Venmo@mauihelen.
I have vet fees plus other things I buy, like cat litter (dry pine pellets) for the ones I have at the Sanctaury. (One with kidney disease and I also have a blind kitty)
(A basket full of Kittens, born in my bathroom)
I believe life is about having kindness and compassion towards all living things and helping when we can.
Even $5 helps as it all adds up. Please donate what your heart wants to give.
We have a huge homeless cat population on Maui and with the Lahaina fires more cats have been displaced..
Plus during the lock down many cats were trapped and dumped elsewhere on the island by neighbors who didn't want cats around their property.
I have several at my cat colonies - (a cruel act as many trapped cats were people’s loved pets - I have returned several lucky ones back to their families as they had micro chips).
More and more cats are being dumped .. one small colony out of 7 that I feed have gone from 6 to 15 plus cats. And 2 showed up at one colony last week.
i also trap and get cats fixed at the Humane society so the population at my colonies stay the same but its the dumping of cats that’s the problem…A friend found 3 kittens in a dumpster last week.. only 1 survived!
(pregnant mama kitty that had her kittens at my place...all got adopted and so did mom)
I have about 7 colonies I drive out to feed every night (sometimes till 2am) . The cats all wait even when it rains or if there is a hurricane, so there is “ No I can't go out tonight".. They all get soaked and so do I.
(Badly injured little guy with wounds on the top of his neck and under his chin .. I was devastated I wasn’t able to save his sister with the same wounds but more severe)
I need the funds for wet and dry food, vet bills, carriers (Giant dog carriers are my cat hospitals), cat supplies, medicine.
I drive out every night to the south side of the island feeding about 60 plus cats including the injured ones I have at home...
(Ginge my oldest homeless cat at 22 years - blind in one eye and limps (got hit by a car) but still going strong - needs specialwet food only. (Ginge has since gone to cat Heaven… it was her time )
Please open your heart and help us so I can continue what I am doing as there is no "I don't think I will do this anymore" as there is no way I can abandoned these cats who now rely on me.
(So innocent and so trusting)
Any amount donated will help me continue helping these homeless cats of Maui.
(a week old kitten - eyes just opened)
Some photographs and stories of the cats are on Instagram @onecatshortofcrazysanctuary
A little about me… I’m an Artist and Underwater Photographer, work part time, and am on Social Security.
Life lived fully is a heart filled with love, kindness and compassion for all living things.. (even the annoying rooster at 3 am)
I didn’t plan on feeding all these homeless cats.. it just happened when 22 years ago I saw a starving mama cat and her babies, so started feeding them, then got them all fixed and soon feeding one family turned into feeding 7 colonies totaling about 65 plus cats..
Please assist me help all these sweet animals .. this $ isn’t for me but for them. ❤️
Thank you all very much for helping me help these homeless cats on Maui ❤️

Why GoFundMe Articles and URLs Appear on Our Website and How We Support Other GoFundMe Campaigns
At LFEBridge Foundation, we are dedicated to creating a platform where individuals and organizations can maximize their fundraising efforts. As part of our commitment to supporting a wide range of causes, we incorporate articles and URLs from GoFundMe into our website. Here’s why you might see GoFundMe content on our site, how it benefits the fundraising community, and our relationship with GoFundMe:
1. Amplifying Reach for Fundraising Campaigns
Increased Visibility: By featuring GoFundMe articles and URLs on our platform, we help increase the visibility of various fundraising campaigns. This additional exposure can attract more donors and supporters, helping campaigns achieve their goals more quickly.
Cross-Promotional Opportunities: Highlighting campaigns from GoFundMe allows us to support a broader spectrum of causes and connect with a wider audience. This cross-promotion benefits both the campaign organizers and potential donors looking for causes to support.
2. Supporting Campaign Growth
Advertising and Promotion: We understand the importance of visibility in successful fundraising. By showcasing GoFundMe campaigns, we provide an advertising platform that helps these campaigns reach potential donors who might not have discovered them otherwise.
Strategic Partnerships: Collaborating with GoFundMe and featuring their campaigns on our site strengthens the fundraising ecosystem, ensuring that worthwhile causes receive the attention and support they deserve.
3. Expanding Donor Networks
Broader Donor Base: Featuring a variety of campaigns from different platforms helps diversify and expand the donor base. This means more people can learn about and contribute to a variety of causes, ultimately driving higher engagement and donations.
Enhanced Outreach: By integrating GoFundMe content, we help campaigns tap into new networks and communities, broadening their reach and potential impact.
How We Help Other GoFundMe Campaigns Grow
1. Featured Campaigns Section
Highlighting Noteworthy Campaigns: We have a dedicated section on our website where we feature noteworthy GoFundMe campaigns. This not only gives these campaigns a spotlight but also encourages visitors to explore and contribute to them.
Rotating Features: To ensure a diverse range of campaigns get visibility, we regularly rotate the featured campaigns. This continuous update keeps the content fresh and engaging for our audience.
2. Social Media Promotion
Sharing Across Platforms: We share selected GoFundMe campaigns on our social media channels to reach a broader audience. Our followers, in turn, can share these posts, amplifying the reach even further.
Engagement Strategies: Utilizing effective engagement strategies, such as storytelling and compelling visuals, we enhance the appeal of these campaigns, driving more traffic and donations.
3. Email Newsletters
Campaign Highlights: Our email newsletters often include highlights of impactful GoFundMe campaigns. By doing so, we bring these causes directly to the inboxes of our subscribers, encouraging more people to get involved and donate.
Donor Updates: We keep our donors informed about the progress and success of the campaigns they have supported, fostering a sense of community and continued engagement.
LFEBridge Foundation's Independence
It’s important to clarify that LFEBridge Foundation is an independent entity and is not part of or affiliated with GoFundMe. While we feature and support GoFundMe campaigns on our site, we operate as a separate foundation dedicated to collecting donations for various causes, similar to GoFundMe. Many of these causes are displayed on our website to provide donors with a wide range of options to support.
