I wrote Land of "Forgotten Echoes" seven years ago and it has taken me that long to start pre-production on this project.
I have self-funded this film, but as many people know it is expensive to make a film. Therefore I’ve started a Go Fund Me for “Land of Forgotten Echoes."
About the film:
Orpha and Rosalee live an isolated existence until an intruder disrupts their barren ranch. The sisters are forced to grapple with the arrival of their nightmares and forbidden desires, but were left wondering who the realmiscreant is.
The Tone
To be shot In Golden and/or Blue hour. an isolated feel with wide shots. Wild animals that we film around, Blades of grass against the desert sky. The sisters doing chores, etc.
Synopsis
Two sisters, Orpha and Rosalee, have never been exposed to the outside world, when suddenly a man appears and changes their lives forever.
FILM LOCATION
Desolate and vast like the Mojave desert or something just as vast and lonely feeling. It must feel like there is nothing beyond the homestead.
Director/Producer
Layne Marie Williams (LM or LMW) is a film, television, & commercial director currently located in Los Angeles, CA. She directed feature film "The Christmas Pitch" premiering it internationally at Festival de Cannes Film Market and the film was distributed digitally via cable and many streaming platforms including Amazon Prime, Redbox, Vudu among others. Layne Marie directed the pilot and season one of "Zen Room" starring, executive produced, & cowritten by SNL legend, Cheri Oteri.

Producer/Writer/Actor
Ariana Kaufman is a method-trained actor, comedian, and horse whisperer. She starred in a thriller that premiered on the Dr. Drew show and played in the horror film “Too Late" starring Fred Armisen and Alyssa Lymperis.
She had a variety show called “The Country Western Show” with John Ennis and Ron Lynch which was performed monthly at The Steve Allen Theater in Los Angeles. Her newest film “The Listing” will be showing on Apple TV in Spring 2024.
When she is not acting she works with horses who have been abused. She is currently starting her 200-hour training to become a wildlife rehabber.
ACTRESS
Jaden Kauhale is a queer, gender-fluid, hapa (mixed) Native Hawaiian actor & writer based on Tongva Territory aka Los Angeles. They are Meisner conservatory-trained and have a deep love for indie film. You can expect to see Jaden in upcoming feature “The Fall” (Audience Award for Best Feature at the Mammoth Film Festival) starring Jocelyn Hudson, Jeremy Sumpter and Robin Gammell. She was recently honored with a nomination for Best Supporting Actress for the film “Repossession” at the 48 Hour Film Festival.
While Jaden is deeply connected to her Hawaiian roots, she grew up on the ice as a competitive figure skater. She joined the wild and whimsical world of Theatre on Ice before moving to New York City to train at the Terry Knickerbocker Studio two-year conservatory. Jaden is now part of a collective of artists writing, directing and producing independent film. In her free time, Jaden diligently and joyfully strives to fulfill her kuleana (sacred responsibility) of reclaiming her people’s sacred practices of hula, oli and pule. She is a bodywork energy healer and loves to be in the ocean any chance they can get. Jaden plans to tell meaningful stories about under-represented groups and bring along their love for humor on and off-screen in the process.
Production Designer
Steph MacDonald is a production designer based in Los Angeles. She's worked on a variety of mediums from art installation builds to focusing her efforts on designing primarily for film. She has a variety of experience within narrative, commercial, and culinary design work. Her passion for understanding the nuance of humanity through storytelling and creating worlds for stories to exist in has pushed her to work on a variety of narrative projects. She attributes so much of her skill set through her experience working her way up in Chicago's film industry, to moving to Los Angeles to continue her creative endeavors.
These have led to a body of work shown in film festivals like Chicago International Film Festival, Beyond Fest, SXSW, and more.
Cinematography
AJ Young is an award winning Director of Photography in Los Angeles, CA. A member of the International Cinematographer's Guild, AJ has shot 15 feature films, over 40 short films, and numerous commercial projects for brands like Vanity Fair, Vogue, Joico, Naturium, and many more. His style of cinematography is self-described as romanticized realism; he brings out the feeling of the scene/characters through the camera work, lighting, and location of the scene.
COSTUME DESIGN
Nashville based artist, donicé's, art has been evolving since the 1970's. She worked in pottery and painting with watercolor and India ink. Eventually she discovered textiles learning to spin wool, weave, and embellish.
There are no restrictions in the media she uses - anything is fair game. Examples of media she has used: beading, dying, painting, braiding, felting, reclaiming and repurposing found clothing and objects, appliqué, making natural pigments. Whatever the artistic endeavor, the most important part of the process is the process.
BTS PHOTOGRAPHER
MaKayla Mardan Bigi is a photographer based in Los Angeles. She’s worked with digital and film doing portraits & concert photography. While she’s always had one hand on a camera, she also has experience with production design, editing, and screenwriting. She’s hoping to continue her career down all of these paths.”
MUSIC COMPOSITION
The Blasting Company is comprised of brothers, J.R Kaufman and Justin Rubenstein, best known for their work on the Emmy-winning animated series, Over the Garden Wall. Founded as a two-man street band in Nashville, the brothers busked their way to Los Angeles where an accommodating farmer’s market and word of mouth led to unexpected and adventurous forays into film, television, and other media. Most recently, they composed the music for the Serial/NYT podcast, The Kids of Rutherford County, which they recently released as a full album. In addition to composing, the band continues to perform and release their own music.
