Hello, my name is Tatianna Pastore. I'm one of Jorge Pastore's sisters. I'm making an effort to raise funds for the expenses to attend his memorial in Austin on April 27-28 and/or Washington DC on May 11-17, to make memorial t-shirts. As flight and accommodations are all at my expense. Jorge's Memorial in Austin is symbolic to me because it's on my birthday, and that is the way I'd like to honor my brother. His memorial in Washington is in May which is also a significant month because it was his birthday month. Anything you can do to help is appreciated. 11/11 I received the painful news 9:08 pm (Spain time.) Finding out was very emotional for all of us, especially my mom & dad, as this was their first child. I was in an emotional wreck 38 weeks pregnant and grieving immensely hoping this was all just a bad dream. We left early November 16th Thursday morning to be with my family and mourn my brother and after over 19 hours of traveling arrived in Austin. People surrounding me told me their doubts about me being able to travel this far to attend his funeral during pregnancy, but I said to myself if my brother wanted me to attend, he would take away all the obstacles for me to join him. Two weeks after my brother's funeral, I gave birth to my first baby. Jorge started karate when we were living in Los Angeles he then continued his practice when we moved to Florida. In high school, he joined ROTC where he had encouraged me to join too (when I saw my brother in uniform I was so proud). He later after high school went on to become a firefighter, he spent ten years in the fire service as a firefighter, paramedic, and lieutenant. He moved to Austin to pursue a career as a police officer for APD and earned a position on the SWAT team. He was always extremely devoted to his family, friends, and work. He had so much love & ambition for his career and community. He accomplished so much and I was just always so proud. He was also the funniest guy I knew. He loved Pauly Shore so much that he got "Squirlie" stitched to on his black belt. My love for my brother was 100 percent, I didn't choose him like perhaps a spouse would. Loving him was not decided by superficial external factors like occupation, looks, or money. He was given to me for a reason. My love for him is true and natural. I will always love him. Jorgie was a gift to me and the world. He was someone I always looked up to. Someone I knew I could trust. He was someone who would give the tough love. He had stamina and he always gave me the best advice. When I was down or doubted myself the proverb "when the going gets tough the tough gets going" was very much what he used to tell me. I ALWAYS called him my inspiration & hero. He accomplished so much in his time. I was dreaming of the day my baby could have met him. I miss him terribly. I had him as the godfather of my baby. I know he is our angel who will look after our family as long as we are here.
