Hi everyone, my name is Ashley. I’m reaching out during an incredibly difficult time in my life, hoping to find some much-needed support and relief. I am currently on disability due to health issues and facing numerous hardships that have left me with a lower income and struggling to secure a stable future for myself and my son. This is tough for me to ask but I know how much I've been able to support others at times when they needed so I'm trying to be humble by sharing my need with you. What happened? This past year and change brought a series of unexpected and challenging events: Serious Health Issues: I was hospitalized with a life-threatening illness, resulting in multiple ER visits and an unexpected surgery. New Home Challenges: One big achievement I've been working at for years was to finally get a home; however, the home I purchased turned out to need far more repairs than anticipated and will be unlivable for some time. Despite my best efforts, I am now out of money to complete the necessary renovations. Transportation Setbacks: Over the last year, I’ve had three cars totaled, adding to my financial stress. Housing Uncertainty: My landlord has asked me to vacate my rental home to make way for their family, leaving me anxious about finding a safe place to live, especially with rental options here being so scarce. Disability and Job Loss: We are now disabled and unable to work. We are actively undergoing treatment/therapy. What I Need My biggest concern is secure housing, so I am seeking funds to get a contractor to help finish up the work needed at the house. This will mean a safe roof to live under while I continue to do finishing work and such. Additionally, I've long withheld paying for transition care needs in lieu of getting this all done and am hoping to still be able to afford those things. Notably, I'll still be working on this as I can and contributing anything I can so this amount needed may lower as I secure new funds. Here’s a breakdown of how the funds will be used: Repair Costs: Estimated $35k remaining for minimum repairs: $5k for electrical work. $6k for plumping and related appliances. $16k for roof and framing repairs. $4k for insulation and drywall. $3k for basic interior. Healthcare and Transition Needs: $3k to cover ongoing healthcare expenses and personal transition needs. Emergency Fund: $2k for unexpected costs during this transition period.
