Hi, my name is Lyande Kaikai and I am the founder of K2 Generation School (K2G), an organisation that supports the development of children in Sierra Leone (SL), through education, sports and health initiatives. In 2023, we built and opened our first preschool in Kailahun (east SL). Funds were raised via our Go Fund Me page . The preschool has been a great success and the children have benefited from having: a safe and nurturing environment for them to learn and grow a playground for sports and physical activities free school lunches, nutrition and health education Here is our 6 month progress report: Why We Are Raising Funds: We believe that every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of their background or circumstances. Unfortunately, in Sierra Leone, access to early childhood education is limited, leaving many children without the foundation they need to succeed in life. Therefore, we are raising funds to build preschools in Sierra Leone to bridge this gap and provide these children with the opportunity to thrive. Importance to Us: Our mission is deeply personal and rooted in the belief that education is the most powerful tool for positive change. As someone who has witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of education, especially in the formative years, I am committed to ensuring that every child in Sierra Leone has the same opportunities that I was fortunate to have. By investing in preschools, we are not only investing in the future of individual children but also in the future prosperity and stability of the entire nation. How Your Funds Will Be Used: The funds we raise will be used to build a playground in Pujehun (south SL) and a preschool in Tonkolili (north SL). The local chiefs have provided us with land free of charge, so these funds will cover the costs of construction materials and labor, hiring qualified teachers, and providing educational resources. As with our first school, I will contribute my own funds to get this project off the ground, as I am passionate about providing quality education to all children across Sierra Leone as I have seen the positive impact it has had on the children and the community in Kailahun.
