Together with a group of compassionate people, we are helping Shereen and her husband, Noor Aldeen Qeshta, as they face unimaginable challenges while trying to provide for their five daughters and secure their safety outside Gaza. Shereen, 32, and her husband, Noor Aldeen, 34, are parents to five beautiful daughters: Ayat (11), Habeeba (7), Jude (7), Sarah (7), and little Ward (2). Currently, they are living in a makeshift tent in Al Mawasi, after being displaced from their home in Rafah. Alongside them, Noor’s extended family, including his mother, father, and siblings — 4 sisters and 3 brothers, are also enduring the hardships of life in Gaza. Shereen and Noor Aldeen’s primary focus is on keeping their children and family safe and ensuring their survival. Shereen recently reached out to me, explaining that an earlier fundraising effort had gone wrong due to someone taking advantage of their vulnerable situation. As a result, we’ve launched a new GoFundMe to ensure that every cent raised reaches this family, helping them move forward. Their immediate priority is preparing for the harsh winter months ahead, securing basic necessities like food and water, and fortifying their temporary shelter. Yet, their bigger goal is to evacuate Gaza and find a place where their daughters can grow up without the constant fear of bombings and destruction. Every day in Khan Younis, they are faced with the terrifying reality of daily bombings. Their children, like so many others, are suffering from health conditions, including skin diseases, exacerbated by the conditions they are forced to live in. The uncertainty of whether they will make it out alive weighs heavily on them. Noor Aldeen, an engineer by profession, once had his own engineering office and a life filled with hope and stability. He wrote: "I lost my office and my car, which I still owe money on, and now I have no idea how I’ll ever repay those debts. For the first time in my life, I cannot provide for my family’s basic needs. After all this loss, we’ve been left with no choice but to leave Gaza and seek safety elsewhere." They had a full life, filled with love, family, and routine, despite the difficulties of living and growing up under the occupation. But after October of last year, everything changed. Their hopes and dreams for their children hang in the balance, and the light in their daughters’ eyes is dimming as the reality of their situation sets in. In order to evacuate, the family must pay $6,000 per adult and $3,000 per child, an overwhelming sum when they are struggling just to get by. They also need ongoing support to cover daily essentials like food, water, and temporary shelter, as well as the debts that still burden them. Things to know: This fundraise is to help Shereen, Noor, their 5 daughters and Noor's extended family (both parents, 4 sisters and 3 brothers) to evacuate from Gaza and cover basic needs of their daily life, such as fixing their shelters for winters, food and water. That means, the target goal of the fund is much higher than 81,000 EUR , but we first want to set a realistic fundraise target for the whole family.
