Update 05/17/24 As core volunteers of MDAS we are filled with gratitude for the outpouring support from the community & the love you all have showed our Medley shelter pets in response to our initiative and Go Fund Me drive. Thanks to you we not only reached the goal but surpassed it, and amazing private companies in our community came to the rescue and answered the call to action ! BIG THANK YOU TO EACH AND ALL OF YOU The original purpose of the drive was to cover the cost of the industrial fans to alleviate the heat in our facility during the summer, but BIG ASS FANS stepped in and donated them, covering all cost ❤️ We want to honor our original purpose and designate this funds for the dogs at the Medley facility SPECIFICALLY. We are currently working with our volunteer team and local organizations who are involved and invested in this initiative to decide the best use of these funds for resources, equipments and goods to improve the day to day lives of our shelter pets until they find their forever home. Having said that, we will wait until ALL the cooling system is installed to make these decisions and when we do, we will keep our generous community updated of the best course of action and update you all. We want to assure that these funds will not be handed to MDAS but managed directly by the core volunteer team and used SPECIFICALLY for the MEDLEY DOGS. There aren't enough words to appreciate the support and the power of a community working side by side to find solutions to improve our shelter dog’s lives. Medley is the old shelter facility that was closed years ago. Because of the overwhelming overpopulation of dogs that we're facing in our county , this facility had to be re-opened to house over 150 dogs who wouldn't have a place to go if it wasn't for this. The facility does not have AC and we're doing everything we can to keep our dogs comfortable in the heated Miami summer.
