Hello! My name is Cat Ostrowski, and I’m a Senior BA Theatre major at Florida State University. After earning my AA at TCC, I transferred to FSU as a Junior, and I've found the theatre program here to be incredibly inspiring. The professors ignite a genuine hunger for knowledge, and I’m constantly seeking opportunities to enhance my acting skills. Though I’ve only been at FSU for a year and a half, I feel like there’s so much more to learn. I still have a couple of extra credits to complete, and my wonderful advisor, Mikayla Blue, suggested that I finish them by studying abroad. This idea led me to the decision to participate in the study abroad program in London! This opportunity not only allows me to avoid the challenges of housing for an extra semester in Tallahassee, but it also lets me maintain my momentum in my studies. I’m eager to finish my Bachelor's degree in a city known for its vibrant arts scene and then pursue my Master’s the following year. London is a fantastic hub for the arts, particularly in British theatre, renowned for its unique style and rich tradition. I plan to focus on the musical theatre track, which aligns perfectly with my passion for blending acting, singing, and dancing. This program promises to deepen my understanding of the musical theatre profession and enhance my skills significantly. While many people study abroad for travel experiences, my primary goal is education. The chance to immerse myself in London’s rich artistic history excites me greatly. I’ve heard that this program can be a transformative experience for performance, and I’m ready to embrace that challenge. On a personal note, I’ve faced significant obstacles, including a difficult period during the pandemic that left my family homeless. With the support of my community in Palm Harbor, Florida, I’ve become financially independent and made the transition to college.
