The Haelan Academy is a nonprofit organization that brings education and healing services to nurses who are experiencing traumatization and burnout worldwide. By 2030, the world will have just over half the number of nurses it needs. We are experiencing a global nursing crisis. At the core of this crisis is the silent epidemic of nurse-specific traumatization, which is driving nurses from the profession: Nearly 1 in 4 nurses meet the diagnostic criteria for PTSD. 91% of nurses report one or more PTSD symptom. 83% of nurses report being burned out. 1 in 4 new graduate or early career nurses leave the profession before they are established in practice. If nurses are not safe, healthy, and well, it has a direct and negative impact upon patient safety, quality of care, and outcomes. To be clear, untreated and avoidable nurse-specific traumatization is the root cause of the global nursing crisis. It's not "just" burnout. My name is Dr. Lorre Laws (PhD RN) and I conducted over five years of research across four disciplines to bring forth an evidence-based framework and programs to help nurses to insulate themselves from the broken healthcare system and recover from all that they've endured. I self-funded my own research, book, and this nonprofit (over six years of time and over six figures of investment). It was necessary to self-fund to ensure that I could meet nurses in their living spaces with unbiased education, resources, and evidence-based healing strategies. There are no governmental, academic, or corporate interest pulling the strings. This is from my heart For over a decade, I have been teaching online and on ground health and nursing courses at a R01 university in the U.S. I completed extensive training to serve as an educator, and specialize in online education. I hold several credentials as an educator that make me uniquely qualified to serve nurses in an online healing environment. This is heart-centered healing work.
