Hi friends, This is a call for action! As most of you might have heard, my home state in Brazil - Rio Grande do Sul is dealing with massive floods. Most of the state has been underwater for over a week. This includes the capital of the state as well as my home city Canoas. Over 60% of my hometown is currently underwater. Due to rain fall, winds, and failure of barriers the water is not receding much at all since last Friday. My neighborhood Bairro Sao Luiz in Canoas is completely underwater, something that has never happened before. My family and neighbors have lost everything. Most families left only with the clothes they were wearing that day. Imagine not have time to gather any belongings; no clothes, shoes, kids toys, medications, even your pets in some cases. Most of families in Brazil do not have home insurance, much less flood insurance coverage. I am asking, better yet I'm begging for your help to uplift my family and neighbors from my neighborhood in Brazil - Bairro Sao Luiz in Canoas. This is the place where I was born and raised. Where I still have family and lifelong friends. The idea is that once the water is gone, and they have a chance to start the clean up process, we will have enough funds to help them rebuild their lives. Have money to help them purchase the basic items to restart. Donations of any amount are welcome. The exchange rate between US dollars and the Brazilian currency makes a huge difference and every dollar stretches far. I have set a very ambitious initial goal, which I hope with your help we will make it.
