Donate to Disabled Cat Needs Specialty Care, organized by Tanya Chapin Andrade

Updates are posted at the story bottom. Three animal-lovers went on a road trip to rescue a dog scheduled for euthanasia at a GA city shelter. This dog had been shot, starved, and tethered under a porch. She is now in a MA forever home. While at the shelter, Roberta -- one of the three who rescued the dog -- met Midnight, a disabled stray with a disfunction that prevents normal walking or any jumping at all. Specialty veterinary diagnostics like an orthopedic evaluation including back/hips/rear leg x-rays, a neurological evaluation with MRI & CT scan are needed to determine the reason for his abnormalities. The cause could be previously-broken back or hips due to the hump (like a camel) in his mid-back and his inability to stand/walk. He has full-body tremors. If the disability is deemed permanent, with no surgical options, he could benefit from chiropractic or other holistic care like physical therapy. Roberta adopted Midnight and had him transported over 1000 miles to her home as a first step after being neutered in GA (by law). Costly specialists must evaluate Midnight next. Roberta is faced with a huge financial burden and you can help prevent that burden from hindering Midnight's opportunity to find medical solutions to get him walking properly. If your heart fills with joy thinking about giving Midnight a chance to have a long, active life, please donate. Please share frequently. Thank you. Roberta's Update 5/4: Midnight departed GA for his long road journey home and arrived just one state away late Saturday evening 4/27. Once home, he immediately hid under a futon and did not eat anything until 5/3 when he was physically pulled out from underneath. That was my stupidity for not blocking under the furniture but thought his disability would prevent him from crouching. Lesson learned. He is currently confined to a big sunny room (temporarily for safety purposes) with everything needed. Finally, he licked cooked pumpkin late that same day. We spent over $400 on white fish, chicken, turkey, salmon, tuna, makarel, plus every brand dry and wet cat & kitten food possibe and he chooses $3 pumpkin. Go figure. All excess bags & cans of food will be donated since he is quite selective. Organic? No! Grain-Free? Nope! But junky Friskies? Yes! Bad choice. He better get used to something higher quality soon. He needs quality nutrition for his many medical issues. Midnight shakes almost constantly, his entire body, much like Parkinsons. It goes away briefly sometimes. We can touch him now. He is too weak and uptight to see any vets although if he hadn't finally taken in food yesterday and today, it would have become a necessity. Midnight falls to the side then takes a step or two then falls over again. It is very sad. He will be loved forever. I have no regrets. This fundraiser is not doing well so far so please share with animal loving friends, just $5 helps. So far, all are good friends who donated except one kind stranger. ❤️ We appreciate words of support also. Thank you. Update 6/1: Midnight has had some emergencies with being unable to urinate and having neurological episodes that are quite disturbing. His first local examination is coming up at the end of June. If you would like to donate directly to the veterinarian to help, send a donation on behalf of Midnight to Dr. Sharon Doolittle in Smithfield, RI or donate directly here. 6/3/24: Midnight is receiving at-home physical therapy. Veterinary physical therapists can be a godsend. Fingers crossed! Thank you. Please share this link. Read more
