Nepal is suffering from the devastating floods and landslides that is affecting people, crops and livestock. The community in which Herb Nepal is based, is still in recovery from the COVID pandemic, and now they have to overcome another tragedy. After the 2015 earthquakes, many community members, including Herb Nepal’s team were unable to rebuild so were forced to move to new locations in the area, often to more at-risk areas with inadequate temporary houses. Increasing deforestation and erosion means they have been increasingly exposed to the dangers of extreme weather events and climate change. We’re committed to creating farmer jobs, through restarting Herb Nepal ’s farmer training programme. The programme equips farmers with the knowledge of reforestation, organic farming, planting techniques and the know-how to sell their produce at fair market price. All of which ensures local ecosystems and soils are stronger in the event of future rains and flooding. Your support helps us create employment opportunities, stronger ecosystems -making sure farmers are better prepared for future climate disasters. Our 3-steps 1. Planting Trees, bamboo and grasses We will grow 10,000 plants & trees on hills and riverbanks, protecting areas prone to landslides and floods. These plants do more than just green the earth -they hold it together! With strong root systems, these plants grow deep into the soil and prevent erosion, stabilises land, and soak up rainwater. This means less flooding, fewer landslides, and safer communities. 2. Raising Awareness & Tree and Plant Care We will demonstrate the importance of reforestation, planting and caring for trees, bamboo, and grasses on our farm, and distribute brochures and manuals to spread the message and guide communities in need. 3. Creating Jobs & Supporting Farmers We will provide local employment, with the Herb Nepal team training Nepali farmers, empowering them to regenerate their lands and improve their financial stability, which in turn creates safer living environments. What will your fund contribute to: Trees, Bamboo & Grasses We aim to grow 10,000 plants. We show how the plants can easily be reproduced and encourage to spread them all over by using organic farming methods. Multiplying these plants, covering hills and riverbanks. This protects potentially dangerous areas that are prone to landslides and floods. Awareness & Plant Care We will demonstrate on our own farm and provide information on why it is important to plant trees, bamboo and grasses. By providing a brochure the message will be spread. Along with a manual of how to plant and take care of the plants grown in areas where it is most needed. Jobs & Farmer Support We will provide local employment, train and support Nepali farmers.
